What could be more difficult than WAR?

1914 Christmas Truce

1914. Europe was at war… again.
Thousands of years of conflicts between nations in Old Europe.
Wars that can be read in History Books,

were fought by real men, of flesh and blood. Thousands had die during those conflicts but never so many at the same time as in World War 1.
Trenches were built to be able to fight a dirty, muddy war, between brothers that just happened to be in two different sides.
Thousands were dying not because of the bullets, but the sickness provoked by the extremely difficult conditions.
The truce began on Christmas Eve, 24 December 1914, when German troops began decorating the area around their trenches in the region of Ypres, Belgium. They began by placing candles on trees. A strange sound came out them from the German side: Christmas carols. The lyrics of Stille Nacht (Silent Night, in German) floated over the trenches. The British troops in the trenches across from them responded by singing traditional English carols too.

A few heads showed over the trenches, shouting Christmas greetings to each other.
A German soldier walked towards the Brits with a small tree with some lifted candles on it. Soon thereafter, there were calls for visits across the “No Man’s Land” where gifts such as jam, cigars, brandy, whiskey, chocolates,… were exchanged.
Not only gifts, also addresses, pictures, stories told over clicking glasses went from hand to hand, from mouths to ears. The artillery in the region fell silent that night, the pistols stayed on the holsters and the bullet didn’t fly over. The only sounds that night: laughter, some manly cries and hearts beating in sync.
Fallen comrades could be brought back behind their lines to be buried. Proper burials took place as soldiers from both sides mourned the dead together and paid their respects. What a sight that must have been.

The truce spread to other areas of the lines, and there are many stories of football matches between the opposing forces. Stories being told said that the Germans won the football game that night,…

In many sectors, the truce lasted only through Christmas night. In some other areas, it continued until New Year’s Day.

The truce occurred in spite of opposition at higher levels of the military. What a surprise. Autocrats, seating behind their well served tables, opposed their men being killed.
A little earlier that year, the Pope at the moment, Benedict XV had literally begged for an official truce between the warring governments, with a letter that said “that the guns may fall silent at least upon the night the angels sang.” The Germans actually considered it possible. Meanwhile the British angrily protested this proposition and ignored any further peace proposal made by the Pope.

Some of the main British commanders vowed that no such truce would be allowed again.
In all of the following years of the war, artillery bombardments were ordered on Christmas Eve just to make sure the war won’t stop because of such trivial festivities, and troops were also rotated through various sectors of the war scenarios to prevent them from becoming “too familiar” with the enemy.
Despite those measures, there were a few friendly encounters every year, until the war ended in 1918, between enemy soldiers, but on a smaller scale than in 1914.

Many of the descendants of the soldiers remember the stories most likely being told by their grandpas and perhaps they can use that inspiration in their own lives.
Perhaps we can use it too. Keep reading.

The Killer Wave

or how I didn’t loose a friend that day

What made those soldiers decide to start that truce?
We can speculate about it and try and come with some psychological, psychosocial, expert answers; but I believe we will be better understand it if we just try to think about our motives, our reasons for doing things in our own lives.
I remember long time ago when an old friend of mine and me went to get empty shellfish at the beach. We use to do little paintings of faces and places. We were able to find nice pieces right at the sand; however, the best ones were by some rocks, several hundreds of yards inside of the sea. We went, of course, to the rocks.
The sea was showing a big and ugly temper that morning. We were so concentrated, trying to get the most beautiful and feasible shellfish possible that we didn’t see the waves had increased their size in just a few minutes since we got there. In fact, one was coming our way, really fast, and it was, at least double our height.
Something made me look behind me, over my shoulder. It was just in time. My brain somehow coordinated my eyes, my hand, and my feet. I saw an old broken metallic structure, probably the kind fishers used to tie their fishing boats. I grab the structure, firmed my feet on the ground and stretched my other arm grabbing my friend by his waist, and I did all that in a fraction of a second.
The wave covered the whole rock and us, but my arm resisted the incredible violence of the water and I resisted. My friend and I forgot about the shellfish that morning and made way back home soaked wet%u2026 but alive.

Generosity… Past it on

If we look at the Webster Dictionary definition of Generosity, we would find something like this:
Main Entry: generosity
Function: noun
Inflected Form(s): plural generosities
Date: 1566

1 a : the quality or fact of being generous b : a generous act
2 : abundance

Not too specific, I believe.
2009 is almost finished and, of course, 2010 is on it’s way.
When we sit down to review (maybe not in a formal meeting with ourselves and our conscience), what are the deeds we are proud of? What could have we done different?
I am sure that we haven’t done 100% of everything we suppose to do in a perfect and spotless matter. Who does it, anyways?
You might have created disappointment on a loved one, might hurt the person that loves you most, etc. wherever it is, with each coming year, we have a fresh opportunity to “start all over” and be the kind of Hero we are really meant to be.
We are starting this series of Blogs to serve as an inspiration to all of our fellow human beings,… not because we are perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but because we learned to learn from our mistakes, and since we have so many, believe me we had the opportunity to learn a lot in the process.
A few last words. Let’s be kind and understanding with each other. Let’s remember that it doesn’t matter how successful, pretty, rich, famous, etc. someone is; we will be remember mainly by the acts of kindness we have each day.

OF VAMPIRES

Night Walker

“It was at night that it came. A night with a full moon. It was just a shadow, crawling behind me. The air suddenly became cold, cold as if the air suddenly died around me. I dared to turn my head. Slowly, trying to prevent my eyes from popping out of their orbits, I looked behind me. Nothing. Empty place and the cold suddenly flew away.

What was it? I don’t know but I tried to find latter, that same day, what that presence was all about.

I read many books that evening. Many of them were so clear that in my mind I didn’t have a doubt anymore: I just had my first encounter with a creature of the night: a vampire. In the following months I had many more experiences like the one I just told. And always, the same deep cold.”

A fragment form the novel “At night I finally will die” from Fernando de Osuna

Vampires are folkloric and mythological beings who subsist by feeding on the life essence (generally in the form of blood) of living creatures. In folkloric tales, vampires often visited loved ones and caused harm or deaths in the places they selected for their residence. In the past, vampires were described like dark figures walkers of the night. In actual times there is a totally different image due to novels and even movies. The mysterious beings are now, sometimes, the heroes of the stories.

The success of these books, films, video games and even TV shows, are making people forget how this legend started, how the vampires and their usually foes, the werewolves became part of the world culture.

Stories of the Vampire go back in the early history of civilization, back to ancient civilizations such as the Babylonians, the Aztecs and the Chinese.

Classic Rome also participated with some of their demy-gods.

Beautiful Night Killer

The modern legend of Vampires started in Romania around the early 16th century. Many people traveling through Eastern Europe reported sightings and encounters with Vampires. These stories spread rapidly throughout the entire old Europe. A continent already plagued with lots of superstitious believes at the time.
The legend of the vampire begun, but it was not until authors like Lord Byron and Goethe that the vampires became the romantic creatures we now know in modern times.

Porphyries, a genetic and incurable disease, share some of the traditional attributes of the Vampires: the need for constant blood transfusions (because lack of hematines); light sensitivity causing rashes and scarring of the skin (photo dermatitis) and problems with the nervous system and muscles (seizures, mental disturbances).

Being out in the sun can cause pain, sensations of heat, blistering, and skin redness and swelling. Blisters heal slowly, often with scarring or skin color changes. They may be disfiguring. Urine may turn red or brown after an attack.

Different cultures have different myths about the vampires. For instancing European beliefs the vampire is dead, twisted and decrepit zombie creature. In America is a different story, made up directly from Hollywood. The creature is sensual, sophisticated and desirable.

A little history:
When you think about vampires usually the first name that you think of is Dracula. Thanks to the famous novel by the same title, by Bram Stoker this image is in every men, women and child in western world mind.

Dracula was actually based on a true Romanian Prince named Vlad Tepes or Vlad the Impaler as people also know him.
He was seen as a hero by his contemporary countrymen. According to most legend he was considered a fair, but very cruel man. Most of the information we have about this prince is transmitted by verbal tradition from Romanians stories tellers, and also by Germans and Russians pamphlets. The first describe him as a national hero, the second as an evil man… Does that sound familiar to you?

The Most famous Vampire

Vlad was born in 1431 in Transylvania into a noble family. His father was called Dracul, meaning dragon or devil in Romanian because he belonged to the Order of the Dragon, which fought the Muslim Ottoman Empire. Dracula means son of Dracul in Romanian. The name Tepes is also report to mean “the impaler”

Vlad the Impaler

He was born as the son of the prince of Wallachia. He, as his father, spent most of his life fighting the Ottoman Empire preventing the invasion of his country.

The Turks later were afraid of Dracula because the severity of his acts. Vlad the III was known as the impaler because that is how he killed many of his opponents.

There is never any mention of Vlad the III being a Vampire, just a sadistic ruler. Vlad was a hero to his people, even though his methods of his punishment were so severe. But he helped defeat the Turks and kept them out of Romania for many years.

AND WAREWOLVES

Hypertrichosis is a rare disease often called Werewolf syndrome– excessive hair of the face and body, sparing the palms and soles – that occurs at birth, and is thought to be caused by rare genetic mutations involving two conditions, the first is a mutation on chromosome 22. The second hasn’t been identified yet.

The legend was born long time before these few cases of Hypertrichosis (about 30 in the whole world), were associated with the myth and legend of the werewolves.

The Werewolf

A werewolf in folklore and mythology is a person who shape shifts into a wolf, either purposely, or after being placed under a curse. In medieval times the some had the belief that the trigger was the exposure to the full moon, concept that later on was used by fiction writers as part of the process of the transformation.
Another common belief is that a werewolf can be killed by a silver bullet.

Many cultures in history have had legends around these creatures and Shape-shifters similar to werewolves are common in myths from all over the world, though in many cases there are several other animals involved, besides wolves.

In Greek mythology the story of Lycaon is one the earliest examples of a werewolf myth. According to one of the versions of this legend Lycaon was transformed into a wolf by eating human flesh and his victims will inherit a similar curse.

Many of the werewolves in European tradition were most innocent and God-fearing persons, who suffered through the witchcraft of others, or simply from an unhappy fate

A big number of werewolf short stories and novels published in the 20th century and continues in today’s days with films were werewolves play a big role in stories, often times in fight for supremacy with vampires.

Films like a Werewolf of London in 1935 created the standard that the werewolf always kills what he loves most. But it was in 1941 when Lon Chaney Jr., on his legendary interpretation of a werewolf in The Wolf Man, set the image that everyone has about these creatures of the night.

Vampires and Werewolves are a source of fantasy and imagination and also of box offices records for those that dare to speak, write and film about these creatures.

Are they just a legend and a myth? Some believe in them, some are skeptical and others don’t know. I just wanted to wish you sweet dreams… and close the windows, just in case…

For many years now 2012 have been presented as doomsday for Mankind. Many books has been written, many documentaries presented and now even a Hollywood blockbuster is going to hit the big screen.
But, after all this talk… what is really 2012? It is going to be the beginning of the end or the end of the beginning?
Let’s gather the facts around this.

The Tablet with the 2012 Prediction

Everything started near the center of the Mayan culture, the ancient city of Teotihuacán. Located around 31 miles north-east of the Mexico DC. The city is well known by two of the most impressive constructions in the world: Pyramid of the Sun, and the Pyramid of the Moon.
Numerous features distinguish the Maya from other cultures of ancient Mesoamerica, but one that has attracted explorers, scholars, and enthusiasts for centuries is Maya Hieroglyphic Writing.
One of the most relevant Hieroglyphic examples is the Maya Calendar.
The Maya calendar is a system of distinct calendars and almanacs used by the Maya civilization. Some communities in Guatemala still using similar systems, even today.
These calendars can be synchronized and interlocked, their combinations giving rise to further, more extensive cycles.

The Mayan system goes back to at least 600 BC. It has many similar aspects with other calendars employed by earlier Mesoamerican civilizations, such as the Zapotec and the Olmec, and later ones such as the Aztec. Although the Mesoamerican calendar did not originate with the Maya, their subsequent extensions and refinements of it were the most sophisticated. Along with those of the Aztecs, the Maya calendars are the best-documented and most completely understood.

By the Maya mythology, the deity Itzamna is the one that brought the knowledge of the calendar to the Maya.
The most important of these calendars is one with a period of 260 days. This 260-day calendar was the most used across all Mesoamerican societies, and is considered the oldest of the calendars systems.
It is based on one of these calendars that we got the idea of a doomsday in 2012.
What is exactly what the Mayans predicted? Did they predicted anything? Is the Mayan Calendar meant to tell us about the end of the World?

There are many Scientifics that stated very clearly that the Mayan calendar does not end in 2012 at all, that it is like the odometer on your car, as each section of the odometer reaches the number 9 and then clicks over to 0, the next number to it starts a new cycle, so that when all the numbers again reach 0 all the way across the odometer – the last number will change from 1 to 2 and the new cycle starts all over again.
In the meantime there are many books written about he subject. Most of them are trying to interpret the motives of a millenarian civilization through the eyes of our belief system.
Authors disagree about what humankind should expect on December 21, 2012, when the Maya’s “Long Count” calendar marks the end of a 5,126-year era.
For the ancient Maya people, it was a big reason for celebration to get to the end of a whole cycle. Part of the 2012 mystique stems from the stars. On the winter solstice in 2012, the sun will be aligned with the center of the Milky Way for the first time in 26,000 years (give or take a year or two). But scholars have serious doubts that the ancient Maya were even aware of that.
We have found many books on surviving 2010. Some of these books we can buy, other are simply distributed for free, with the intention of selling us something else later on. In reality, if 2012 was the day of the end of the world, I don’t think any manual will prepare us for that.
The reality is that there are many different opinions on this matter. However, let’s pay some attention to some of the facts:
Everything started with what is called Monument Six.
It was found at a small ruin in southern Mexico during a highway construction in the 1960s.
Some parts of the tablet were removed or seriously damaged during construction and some of the remaining parts contain the equivalent of the date 2012. The inscription describes something that is supposed to occur in 2012, and mention a name: Bolon Yokte, a no so known Mayan god associated with both war and creation.

However, erosion and a crack in the stone make the end of the passage almost illegible and some of the interpretations of what the last passage is saying is “He will descend from the skies.”
Some scholars are noticing that are other inscriptions at other Mayan sites for dates far beyond the year 2012 (one of them translates into events that will occur in the year 4772), perhaps an inspiration for another movie?
The Mayan civilization, which reached its height from 300 A.D. to 900 A.D., had a talent for astronomy.
The calendar starts in 3,114 B.C., marking time in roughly 394-year periods known as Baktuns. Thirteen was a significant, sacred number for the Mayas, and the 13th Baktun ends around Dec. 21, 2012.
What is going to happen December 21 2012? In my opinion we will have December 22 2012. But that is just my opinion. Would you like me to be right this time?

In regards of the movie 2012… I am going to watch it, with some popcorn… and hope r the best.

· “Payouts
Each payout period we determine payouts based on percentage of site income divided by how many clients request payment at a particular time. Once a user has earned a minimum of $1,001.00.Payments are made via PayPal or AlertPay only. Payment waiting time is 55business days from date of payment request. All earnings listed and/or represented by (The PTC Company) are estimated values in advertising dollars, actual values subject to change without notice. For The PTC company to process your cash out request you must have an upgraded membership for at least 60 days prior to cash out request submission. We reserve the right to payout in International Currencies at time of payment, in the event of possible world economic crisis. It is solely the user’s responsibility to declare all earnings or payments received from The PTC company to their applicable tax and revenue agency in their country of residence. The PTC Company not in any way liable for any damages you incur as a result of handling the monies received from the Site. Payment fees for PayPal or AlertPay are deducted from earnings. The PTC Company is a revenue sharing site. All payments and purchases are services rendered and non-refundable. All charge backs or reversed transactions made on your payments will lead to an immediate account dismissal. Please contact us before you make a decision to do charge backs or reversed transactions.
There are those also than blatantly say:
Payouts
“This is not a site that pays cash, all earnings is for advertising purposes. (And look at this statement) Requesting payout is violation of terms and can lead to termination and is at minimum a donation to the site. “

So, if you request payout you can be terminated because “is violation of terms”. Like is an offense to them that you pretend to get paid for your work.

So to the question, is there any PTC’s company that really pays? The answer is that we have had receive several positives feed backs from individuals that are saying they got paid. Here are some of the links of those companies.

http://bux.to

http://www.donkeymails.com

http://companybux.com

http://nomincashout.com

http://www.linkbucks.com

http://www.linkgrand.com

http://richptc.com

We are not endorsing these companies, since we never really got paid. All we are recommending is:

Always read every word in the TERMS and CONDITIONS section before enrolling and committing to spend your valuable time.

The majority of the companies that are being reported positively are paying 1 to 5 cents (not dollars) per click, so you can imagine how long it will take you to make any money at all.

Apparently, if you upgrade to a paid membership your chances to get pay are increasing.

PTC’s are a great way to have cheap advertisement. We are using it for our businesses. Not so much to make a living out of it.

Just think for a moment: We pay around $4 a month to have a banner on any PTC’s site. That banner gets hit about 100 times a day. If each one of those persons that click on our banner gets $1 to $5 per click… the company will have to pay from $1,000 to $5,000 to the clickers… does that sounds like a profitable company to you? Make $4 and pay $100? We thought so.

If you are looking to get pay for your effort, for real, we are analizin many different companies out there so you don’t have to do it. How crazy is that? Do all this work for free? But once we find what it really works it will be well worth the effort. Stay tune. This is an honest site we are just giving an honest review. Feel free to leave your comments and also to request reviews, that will greatly help us to improve and be of real service.

With our best wishes,

http://bux.to
http://www.donkeymails.com
http://companybux.com
http://nomincashout.com
http://www.linkbucks.com
http://www.linkgrand.com
http://richptc.com
